LEARN MORE ABOUT THE ROSEMARY PLANT
The rosemary genus called Rosmarinus is a small genus of bushy, evergreen perennial shrubs. The leaves of the rosemary plant are very distinct; narrow and needle-like, they are incredibly aromatic and also produce small clusters of blue flowers. There is only one species in this genus that has significant value in aromatic therapy, and that is the rosemary essential oil called Rosmarinus officinalis.
This species of rosemary is cultivated all over the world and is used for many different purposes, including its use in culinary preparations and as a medicinal herb and essential oil-bearing plant. Rosemary is an incredibly popular culinary herb, helping to lend its warm, sweet flavor to a variety of different dishes.
In her book “Essential Oils: A Comprehensive Handbook for Aromatic Therapy”, author Jennifer Peace Rhind writes that “many studies have confirmed the use of rosemary to promote emotional and mental well-being, and the results of these have direct relevance to aromatic therapy”. Rosemary is touted for its use in improving overall health and well-being, helping to reduce the symptoms and duration of stress, tension and lethargy. Studied for everything from its ability to reduce pain in the body to helping comfort the nervous system, we’re excited to share more about the ways you can use the rosemary plant in your life.
USE THE ROSEMARY PLANT WHEN YOU WANT A BOOST OF NATURAL ENERGY
Because the rosemary plant presents as fresh, clearing and herbal, it’s thought to have the ability to provide a little plant-based pick-me-up. It’s common to see rosemary essential oil blended alongside other essential oils known to be stimulating and revitalizing, like peppermint and spearmint, for example.

USE THE ROSEMARY PLANT TO HELP SOOTHE TIRED, OVERWORKED MUSCLES
Similar to the ways in which the rosemary plant can be useful in helping to relieve pain and support recovery, it’s also supportive of the body in decompressing, finding balance and generally being in a state of ease. Below we’re sharing two of our go-to products for those days when feeling comforted and soothed is what we’re after.
Products including the rosemary plant for restoring balance in the body:
Muscle Melt bath salt soak: soak and soothe in a restorative bathtime blend of stimulating essential oils to help you feel relaxed and at ease. These epsom and naturally derived sea salt bath salts are also blended with nourishing and warming rosemary, fresh and stimulating sweet birch and gentle, peaceful roman chamomile for an indulgent treat. Try adding 2-5 tablespoons of salts once you’ve filled the bathtub and are ready to climb in, and soak for 20-30 minutes for maximum benefits.
Muscle Melt body butter: this comforting formula was created specifically to give attention to our body’s largest organ, the skin. Comprised of the same essential oil formula that provides warmth and nourishment to the muscles and tissues, the base of this rich, creamy butter is made from three ingredients, cocoa seed butter, shea butter and mango seed butter that are renowned for their ability to provide nourishing hydration that is never heavy, sticky or greasy. Our favorite way to use this product is after a bath or shower while the skin is still damp for long lasting moisture.
USE THE ROSEMARY PLANT TO HELP YOU FEEL CLEANSED AND REFRESHED
The rosemary plant can also be very cleansing when paired with ingredients that are formulated to be refreshing, deodorizing and supportive of overall personal hygiene. One of the most popular product lines we offer at Saje is called Tingle Mint; we’re sharing about what makes this tingly and invigorating line so well-loved.
Products including the rosemary plant for personal hygiene:
Tingle Mint foaming hand soap: given the increased importance of hand hygiene in the last year, our 100% natural foaming hand soaps are a great place to start whether you’re new to natural or you’re looking for a clean alternative to the soap you’re using multiple times per day. There are a few things that set our foaming hand soaps apart: first, they are formulated without any synthetic ingredients or artificial fragrances. The clean, uplifting, warming and minty scent is brought to you directly from nature, in the form of vibrant peppermint, deodorizing tea tree and stimulating rosemary essential oils. Second, we don’t use drying alcohol in our soaps and instead rely on saponified oils like coconut and sunflower for rich, frothy foam and rosemary leaf extract to act as a natural preservative. Go ahead and see for yourself how nurturing hand washing can be!
Tingle Mint body lotion: the next Community Member-favorite product in our Tingle Mint line of products is a cooling, soothing and tingling body lotion, formulated to help you feel fresh and uplifted while your skin receives the moisture and deep hydration it needs. While the stimulating blend of peppermint, spearmint and rosemary enlivens your senses, the base of shea nut oil, grapeseed oil and vitamin E, rich in vitamins and fatty acids, will leave your skin feeling radiant and deeply cared for.
Tingle Mint Jute & Joy: a perfect cleansing accessory to gently exfoliate, refresh and soften your skin is this minty soap-filled wash pad. Made from 100% natural, vegetal jute fibres, the Jute & Joy is another well-loved personal care product at Saje. A fun fact about jute is that the fibre on its own is fully biodegradable, and has a smaller environmental footprint than cotton as it requires far less water and land for the plants to grow, making it an excellent, responsible choice for use in cosmetic products for the body. Lather up and hang to dry between uses for best results.
