In the last year, antibacterial spray hand sanitizers have spent more time in the spotlight than ever before in their history. Many companies pivoted to offer safe, effective options for antibacterial sprays, as they were reported by governing health bodies like the CDC and the Public Health Agency of Canada to help curb the spread of germs and bacterias when hand washing with soap and water wasn’t readily available. As a brand that prides itself on offering highly efficacious products with superior quality and our gold-seal standard of truly 100% natural, we set out to create an antibacterial spray hand sanitizer that we felt would not only help protect you from the spread of germs but would also provide conditioning and moisture balancing protection for the skin.

We launched Hand Sanitizer earlier this year with the intention to create a product that would help to keep hands clean and healthy with a fresh, citrusy sanitizing spray that’s 100% natural, effective and easy on the skin. We wanted our product to effectively destroy harmful bacteria and to provide antiseptic cleaning and to soothe and refresh the skin. We also wanted it to smell uplifting and pleasing to the nose, which is why we included tart and citrusy lime essential oil as part of our formula.

Our Hand Sanitizer works to help reduce bacteria that can potentially cause disease and to provide antiseptic cleansing to the hands when applied, and is safe for occasional personal and domestic use for children 2+ years of age and for adults. We chose an antibacterial spray formula because the liquid texture glides easily on the skin and absorbs well. We chose to package our Hand Sanitizer in an aluminium bottle because aluminum has a higher rate of recyclability and it contains more recycled content than in competing packaging materials like plastic or glass. In short, we wanted to think of everything before bringing the best possible product to market.

We also wanted to ensure our 100% natural ingredients and formula would meet the rigorous standards laid out by the governing health bodies in both Canada and the USA, which is why we are so thrilled to share that our antibacterial spray hand sanitizer is recognized as both a Natural Health Product (NHP) in Canada and an Over The Counter (OTC) in the USA. These designations mean that our products have met the high standards for efficacy and safety put in place by these regulating health agencies to ensure the utmost care is in place to provide top notch products to our Community that deliver the results they promise.

INGREDIENTS IN OUR NATURAL ANTIBACTERIAL SPRAY

The formula for our hand sanitizer is simple but effective. We carefully selected ingredients knowing they must meet certain criteria for efficacy as well as our internal standard of 100% natural to form a product we believe is perfect for keeping with you on the go and using at home to help you avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Purified Water: acts as a base and helps to blend and emulsify ingredients together.

Glycerin: acts as a humectant, which allows the skin to retain moisture. Glycerin helps to relieve dryness and acts as an emollient, which means skin retains its softness.

Lime essential oil: has a bright, uplifting aroma that helps to refresh both the skin and the mind. Lime essential oil is known to be high in antioxidants and has been studied for its benefits as an anti-inflammatory and an antifungal plant compound.

Aloe Vera Juice Powder: acts as a skin conditioner that soothes the hands and helps to prevent dryness from repeated exposure to alcohol.

68% Ethyl Alcohol (Grain Alcohol): the key medicinal ingredient in the formula, ethyl alcohol is derived from grain. The manufacture of the bio-ethanol used in the formulation of our 100% Natural Hand Sanitizer begins with corn starch derived from non-GMO corn. The starch is then enzymatically converted to sugars, which is consumed by yeast to produce ethanol. Ethanol is then purified from any corn residues via distillation, resulting in a 95% (v/v) ethanol (the 5% balance being water). This natural process contrasts the more affordable manufacturing processes often used to create synthetic alcohol used in some hand sanitizers that may rely on thermo-chemical methods utilizing non-renewable or non-grain/sugar starting materials.

HAND SOAPS FIRST, ANTIBACTERIAL SPRAY SECOND

Though hand sanitizer is an effective and convenient way to stop the spread of germs and keep your hands clean throughout the day, the primary recommendation from governing health bodies remains that soap and water should continue to be our first line of defence. Hands should be washed with soap and water for at least 20 seconds when visibly soiled, before eating, and after using the restroom, as washing with soap and water helps to remove many germs and chemicals from the skin.

TIPS ON USING ANTIBACTERIAL SPRAY FROM GOVERNING HEALTH BODIES

Though using antibacterial spray hand sanitizers is easy, convenient and frankly, sometimes necessary, the best first option for cleansing and sanitizing the hands should always be washing your hands for at least 20-30 seconds with soap and water. When this option is not readily available, here are the recommendations from the CDC on how to select and use hand sanitizer appropriately:

• Choose hand sanitizers that contain at least 60% alcohol.
• Do not choose hand sanitizers that contain less than 60% alcohol.
• Do not choose hand sanitizers labeled as “alcohol-free.”
• Do not choose alcohol-based hand sanitizers packaged in a container that resembles a food or beverage container.
• Avoid alcohol-based hand sanitizers that are not approved for use by governing health bodies where you live.
• Follow the label instructions for use. Properly apply alcohol-based sanitizer by rubbing the product over all surfaces of your hands and fingers until your hands are dry.
• Store alcohol-based hand sanitizer out of reach and sight of young children and supervise their use.
