Saje Pain Release Cream

Pain Release Joint & Arthritis Cream

Pain Release cream is specially formulated to tackle joint pain and arthritis. This comforting, easing and relieving cream uses what are commonly referred to as analgesic (numbing) essential oils for gentle, yet effective pain release. This product delivers benefits from 3 key essential oils, copaiba, L-menthol from peppermint, and marjoram, to create a product experience that is both aromatic and topically stimulating.

L-menthol from peppermint: this is the active ingredient in the formula that works to cool and soothe the skin and body as it tackles pain. Peppermint oil contains a notable active compound, menthol, which acts as a potent counterirritant when applied topically. A counterirritant is an ingredient that introduces a mild irritation, like a warming or cooling sensation, to distract the body from feeling pain in a deeper tissue or muscle by stimulating nerve endings in the skin. Menthol works by stimulating the skin’s cold receptors, triggering a cooling sensation and reducing the perception of pain, temporarily diverting attention from the underlying discomfort. Peppermint is an excellent choice for topical pain relief, offering both aromatic and sensorial benefits.

Copaiba: this resinous oil's aroma is often described as mild, woody, and slightly sweet, and it has a base note quality, which means it has a grounding and calming effect on the blend. It has been used for centuries by indigenous cultures for its medicinal properties and is considered one of the most sustainable essential oils due to its non-destructive harvesting method. It has gained traction in recent years because of the promise it's shown relative to pain and recovery for the body. Copaiba contains high amounts of a component called beta-caryophyllene, known for its potent anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. Based on the principles for use in both aromatherapy and traditional historical modalities, this essential oil may be used as a valuable contributor to help relieve local pain in the body. It may also be used in massage to soothe tension in the body and to alleviate soreness.

Marjoram: a staple in many of the products we offer in the pain and recovery category at Saje. This oil is soft, warming and herbaceous, and is thought to be balancing and soothing during times of both emotional and physical turbulence. It's commonly used in topical preparations to ease and relieve a fatigued body, providing feelings of decompression and comfort.

These essential oils are then blended into a luxurious, non-greasy, highly absorbent base that includes ingredients like jojoba oil, glycerin and shea nut butter for easy application, which has the added benefit of hydrating and softening the skin.

Next, let’s learn more about the different types of pain we experience, and various pain management techniques that can help us feel our best.

The need for various pain management techniques

Whether pain lasts a short time or a long time, it can impact the way we experience and enjoy life. For example, arthritis might affect your ability and inclination to be active, which then affects your physical health. You might also be in too much pain to participate in social events with friends and family, which can slowly lead to isolation.

Truly, there are many ways pain can eat away at your life, which is why it’s so important to have multiple pain management techniques and strategies that benefit both your physical and mental health. Not every method will work for everyone, which is why having options is key. Thankfully, natural remedies can work in harmony with pre-established pain management techniques to create a well-rounded approach to pain management and overall restoration.

Understanding types of pain

Everyone experiences pain differently. For instance, we all have different pain thresholds and experience pain and discomfort in ways that are unique to each of us. Don't let the comparison game stop you from taking your personal pain seriously. You deserve to live pain-free, and treatment starts with understanding the kind of pain you're experiencing. This article addresses 2 main types of pain: short-term, or acute pain and long-term or recurrent pain.

Short-Term, Acute Pain

Acute pain is short-term pain. The onset is typically sudden or sharp, and often related to injury, surgery, infection, or trauma. Pain is considered acute when it lasts for just a few minutes, all the way up to a few months. This kind of pain is usually associated with an injury or temporary illness that needs time to fully heal. Once the injury or illness has healed, the pain subsides. However, short-term or acute pain can evolve into chronic pain if not properly treated. Examples of short-term pain include strained muscles, surgery, broken bones and sprains.

Long - Term, Recurrent Pain

Long-term, recurrent pain is also sometimes described as chronic pain. It’s the type of pain that is typically stubborn and persistent and can be constant or intermittent. Long-term or chronic pain usually lasts months or years. It can be defined as long standing pain that persists beyond the usual recovery period or occurs alongside a chronic health condition, such as arthritis. It’s considered to be chronic even if the pain comes and goes, so long as it’s due to the same source. Examples of long-term or chronic pain include headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and more.
